Β Your Body Isn't Broken. It's Been Guessing at a Problem No One Ever Actually Found.
Β
You've done the rounds β imaging that came back "normal," a diagnosis that didn't explain the pain, exercises that helped for a week and then stopped working. Somewhere in all of that, a lot of people start to wonder if this is just how they're going to feel.
It isn't. Most pain, stiffness, and "it never fully healed" injuries have a findable cause. Finding it just takes hands that know what they're feeling for, and a process built to look past the symptom to what's actually driving it.
THE PROBLEM
If you've been dealing with back pain that keeps returning, a knee that never quite trusts itself again, or symptoms since a concussion that standard testing keeps calling "resolved" β you already know the frustrating part isn't the pain. It's being told everything looks fine when it clearly isn't.
Most care is built to treat the location of the pain. A hands-on, whole-body approach treats the reason the pain is there in the first place β which is very often somewhere else entirely.
THE GUIDE
Jen Shepherd is a physical therapist and functional medicine practitioner, and one of a small number of clinicians in the country trained in both Integrative Manual Physical Therapy and Functional Medicine β meaning she's evaluating the mechanics of how your body moves and the internal factors (inflammation, nutrition, nervous system regulation) that affect how well it heals, in the same visit, under the same set of hands.
That combination is the whole point. A joint that won't loosen up no matter how much you stretch it, or a nervous system that's stuck in fight-or-flight since a head injury, often needs both lenses at once to actually resolve.
WHAT OUR WORK LOOKS LIKE IN THE CLINIC
HOW HANDS-ON TREATMENT WORKS HERE
Every session starts with Jen's hands, not a protocol pulled off a shelf. She's feeling for where the body has lost its normal glide, spring, and mobility β in the joints, the fascia, the nervous system β and treating what she finds in real time.
That might look like:
- Gentle, precise manual therapy that restores movement in a joint or tissue that's been quietly compensating for months or years
- Nervous system work, especially relevant for concussion and post-injury cases where the symptoms are neurological, not structural
- Whole-body assessment, because the knee that hurts is frequently being asked to compensate for a hip, an ankle, or an old injury nowhere near the knee
- Functional medicine follow-through β bloodwork evaluation, nutrition, and inflammation factors β when what's blocking recovery isn't mechanical at all
WHAT WE TREAT
Chronic pain β’ Fatigue β’ Post-concussion syndrome β’ Headaches & migraines β’ Nausea & GI issues β’ Anxiety & mood changes β’ Autoimmune flares β’ Brain fog β’ Injuries that wonβt heal β’ Unexplained or βmysteryβ symptoms
THE PLAN
- Evaluation β Jen assesses how you move, where you've lost mobility, and what your history and labs suggest about what's driving it
- Hands-on treatment β targeted manual therapy addressing what she finds, not a generic protocol
- A plan that follows the evidence β adjusted session to session as your body responds
